Discover the Heart of Thailand: Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Back

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Thailand’s cultural heartland. Begin in the bustling capital Bangkok, with its glittering temples and vibrant street life, before stepping back in time among the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya. Head north to Phitsanulok and the historic splendor of Sukhothai, the cradle of Thai civilization. Continue to Lampang, a city rich in Lanna charm, then explore the mysterious Golden Triangle region in Chiang Rai, where three countries converge. End your northern adventure in Chiang Mai, Thailand’s cultural capital, before returning to Bangkok with memories of majestic temples, serene landscapes, and warm hospitality.

Itinerary

Day 1

Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Phitsanulok (L)

Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to Bang Pa in for a scenic boat trip to Ayutthaya. Visit Wat Panangchoen, Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol and the ancient ruins of Wat Chai Wattanaram. Continue to Bang Sadet village to visit an orphanage. Drive to Phitsanulok and visit Wat Maha That, Phra Buddha Jinaraj. Upon arrival at Phitsanulok check in at the hotel.

Day 2

Phitsanulok – Sukhothai – Lampang (B/L)

Drive to Sukhothai to visit the ancient ruins, drive to Wat Sri Chum to see its gigantic Buddha statue. Continue to Lampang and drive for a photo stops at Wat Si Rong Muang, Wat Pratu Phong Temples.

Day 3

Lampang – Golden Triangle – Chiang Rai (B/L)

Drive to Golden Triangle and take a boat ride on the Mekong River, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos converge. Continue to Chiang Rai.

Day 4

Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai (B/L)

Drive to Chiang Mai en route stopping at Wat Rong Khun Wat Rong Khun. Visit Wat Doi Suthep, a famous landmark of Chiang Mai.

Day 5

Chiang Mai – Bangkok by Train (B/L)

The morning is at leisure. After lunch, visit various Handicraft Villages specializing in lacquer-ware, Thai Silk, paper umbrellas and a Thai wood carving factory. Overnight train to Bangkok.

Day 6

Bangkok

Arrive at Bangkok Railway Station. Extend your stay in Thailand by choosing a beach extension or add on tours we offer.
