Excursion of the day - Ride with the Winzerexpress and cable car to the Niederwald monument. 

The „Wine express “, a little train established in 1978, will give you a ride through the narrow street of Rüdesheim. After a short tour, you will stop at the valley station of the cable care station, which is located in the pedestrian zone in Rüdesheim. The cable car will take you to the Niederwald monument. The "Germania" was built in 1871 and is located above Rüdesheim. The statue is 38 meters high and is the landmark of this region. The lowest element shows a bronze group, right below the main mural reliefs: Father Rhine gives his daughter the Moselle the guardian horn. This tells historian story to the in the war established new border lines, which moved the border lines away from the Rhine and added the Alsace and Lorraine to the German empire.
